- NATIONAL URBAN WATER AWARD-NUWA 2010
The National Urban Water Awards (NUWA) are instituted by the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India (GoI), in association with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in urban water management.
These awards have been instituted with the explicit purpose of honoring urban local governments, water boards and organizations that assist them in taking significant steps towards effective water management and effecting improvements in service delivery. NUWA is unique in that it honors public and government institutions and recognizes the role of all stakeholders associated with service delivery improvement in urban areas.
The Awards aim to fulfill the purpose of recognising and disseminating good practices in water management that have led to improved service delivery.
Under the category Citizen Services & Governance, Municipal Reforms Cell, Directorate of Municipal Administration – Karnataka was awarded Runner-up for e-Governance Project (Tulana) for Measuring Performance in Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Across 213 ULBs of Karnataka.
The award was presented to M.S. Ravishankar, I.A.S. Commissioner, Directorate of Municipal Administration and Dr. N. Shivashankara, Joint Director (Reforms), Municipal Reforms Cell, DMA by Hon'ble Union Minister of Urban Development Shri Kamalnath. Kum. Selja, Hon'ble Union Minister of Housing and Poverty Alleviation, Shri Saugata Roy, Hon'ble Minister of State for Urban Development, Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Dy. Chairman, Planning Commission and Dr. Sudhir Krishna, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development were among the dignitaries who felicitated the winners and addressed the delegates during the Award Ceremony held on 13 December 2011 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. - eWorld 2010 Award
The eWorld 2011 Awards is instituted with the primary aim of felicitating and acknowledging unique and innovative initiatives in the use of Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D). These awards would be given away during the eWorld.
The eWorld 2011 Awards would be given to the distinguished global ICT initiatives in the fields of :- ICT Innovation in Governance
- ICT Innovation in Healthcare
- ICT Innovation promoting Millennium Development Goals of:
eWorld Awards will be given under following :
- eWorld Public Choice Award :
Nominated projects will be screened and put online for the public to vote. Projects receiving the maximum number of votes under each category will receive the eWorld Public Choice Award.
- eWorld Jury Choice Award :
Nominations were screened by an eminent panel of jury members, who will then choose the best project from each category. The selected project will receive the eWorld Jury Choice Award.
The Award selection process will go through a dual process of Jury as well as public voting system.
Under the Eradicating Extreme Poverty and Hunger category, Municipal Reforms Cell, Directorate of Municipal Administration has bagged eWorld Jury Choice Award for "Asha Kirana Mahiti". and was voted as best project. The award was presented at e-World 2011 Forum on 2nd August at New Delhi. - NATIONAL AWARDS FOR E-GOVERNANCE

"Excellence in Government Process Re-engineering" Award presented to Sri.Anjum Parwez I.A.S, DMA by the H.E. Shri. Kateekal Sankaranarayanan, Governor of Maharashtra and Sri. Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra The National Conference on e-Governance was convened under the joint auspices of the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances and Department of Information Technology, Government of India alongwith Directorate of information Technology, Government of Karnataka which aims to raise awareness of the opportunities offered by Information & Communication Technology for economic & social development of the country. The conference provides a national forum for leaders & representatives of government, civil society organisations, industry & academicians to exchange ideas, experiences & best practices in implementation of e-Governance projects. To recognise and promote excellence in implementation of e-governance initiatives, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances presents National Awards for e-Governance every year.The Purpose of these awards :- Recognise achievemetns in the area of e-Governance.
- Disseminate Knowledge on effective methods of designing and implementing sustainable e-Governance initiatives.
- Encourage horizontal transfer of successful e-Governance solutions.

Municipal Reforms Cell, Directorate of Municipal Administration has won the Bronze Award for the project "Aasthi (GIS based property tax information" in National Awards for e-Governance" under the category - "Excellence in Government Process Re-engineering" for the year 2010-2011 by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DAR&PG) & Department of Information Technology, Government of India. The Award was presented by H.E. Shri. Kateekal Sankaranarayanan, Governor of Maharashtra and Sri. Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra in the inaugural session of the 14th National Conference on e-Governance 2010-2011 on 10th February, 2011 at CIDCO Natyagruha Auditorium, Aurangabad.
- BEST PRACTICES SYMPOSIM AND BEST URBAN LOCAL BODY AWARD 2010
"Line Department for Computerisation of Municipal Functions Best Practices Symposium and Citation Ceremony 2010 award" presented to Sri.Anjum Parwez I.A.S, DMA and Sri.G.Thippeswamy K.A.S,JD(R) by the Honorable Minister Sri.Sureshkumar S.for Urban Development Department Karnataka Urban Development Department in association with City Managers’ Association, Karnataka since 2004 is striving hard to enhance and build the capacities of the city managers and ULBs in service delivery. The best Practice program comprises of following components. They are :- Best Practices Documentation : A catalogue named "Initiatives in Urban Sector Karnataka”
- Best Practice Citation Ceremony : Identifying the best initiatives and conferring them with cash and certificates for encouragement
- Best Practice Transfer Program : Creating a forum for ULBs to exchange their ideas and learn from others success to bring changes in their areas for betterment
168 Initiatives were received from the ULBs and line departments. The Expert panel of 9 members was constituted. The panel comprises of experts and field practitioners across the nation. 42 initiatives are documented under the catalogue. Of these, best 9 initiatives have been shortlisted for the awards by the jury members using scientific criteria. Also special awards are been constituted for recognizing and encouraging Town Municipal Council and Town Panchayat. Municipal Reforms Cell, Directorate of Municipal Administration has won 1st prize under the category Line Department for Computerisation of Municipal Functions Best Practices Symposium and Citation Ceremony 2010.
- DMA MRC RECEIVED ICT EXCELLENCE-2010 AWARD FROM THE HONORABLE PRESIDENT OF INDIA
ICT Excellence 2010-award presented to Sri.Anjum Parwez, DMA by the honorable president of India on 27th October 2010.
INTRODUCTION : India-Tech Foundation a public trust and industry association for modernization and technology up gradation of Indian industry organizes an annual mega Expo on the Indian Infrastructure Sector comprising the three major segments viz. Power infrastructure construction and telecom & IT. In the year 2002, India-Tech announced "Excellence Awards" for most progressive State Governments, one in each category of Power, Infrastructure Construction and Telecom & IT. These would be awarded on the basis of a Case-Study Competition? received form the State Governments in all the three segments. The Awards constituted are as follows:-- POWER India Excellence Award : for Excellence in Power Sector reform initiatives
- CONSTRU India Excellence Award : for Excellence in Urban & Rural Infrastructure Development
- TELECOMM India Excellence Award : for Excellence in Application of IT in State administration (e-governance)
TELECOMM INDIA EXCELLENCE AWARD : "Information Technology" provides effective tools and technologies for variety of applications and also in e-governance like land record management, cities and government interface, market information etc. The idea is to reduce paperwork, 24*7 service delivery or approach towards it, develop potential for providing services at convenient locations including home based access for the rural as well as urban masses. The need of the hour for the state governments is to implement the latest technologies and ensure speedy development of projects providing online real time transactions, such As, filing of applications and complaints, and complains, issue of certificates, renewal of licenses, collection of payments etc to make it a success story for others to emulate. Award will be judged on the criticality of IT usage, improvement in service, impact on quality and productivity, impact on society and innovation in terms of reach and replicability, tangible impact on efficiency, operational costs & decision making and demonstrating functionality of providing various information relating to e-governance. The broad criteria to evaluate the performance of a State Government (from the point of view of e-governance initiatives) are:-

- Perspective of State Ministries and departments
- Importance accorded to it in the overall functioning of various departments in the State
- E- governance projects undertaken / planned Current and in pipeline
- IT Policy – Action Plan
- Level of officials involved in decision making for it policy

Under the Excellence in Application of IT in State Administration (e–governance) category, Municipal Reforms Cell, Directorate of Municipal Administration has bagged the 2nd Prize (Runner – up) based on the Case-Study alongwith Questionnaires for the three segments under the Jury Panel chaired by Former Chief Justice of India, Justice Shri. A.M. Ahmadi. The Project Title : "Karnataka’s e-Governance Initiatives" presented by Ms. C.N. Meena Nagaraj, I/c Joint Director (Reforms), Municipal Refroms Cell. The Award was presented on 27th October 2010at Mumbai at the Inauguration of the 12th World Innovation Summit & Expo comprising : POWER India & CONSTRU India 2010.
- MRC BAGGED THE eINDIA 2010 AWARD UNDER #1 CITIZEN CHOICE
eIndia 2010: A premier Annual Mega ICT products exhibition/show organized by the Center for science, Development and Media studies (CSDMS) along with the Department of Information technology, Ministry of Communications and IT, Government of India, in partnership with several Government agencies and departments. The event will be attended by enterpreneurs, Ministers, Secretaries of other states and countries. The 6th edition of eIndia was held from 4th to 6th August, 2010 at Hyderabad International Convention Center, Hyderabad, India. The eINDIA 2010 Awards are the premier accolades given to innovative endeavours made in assimilating technology in developmental concerns. The Awards have been instituted with the primary aim of felicitating and acknowledging unique and innovative initiatives in the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Development. The eINDIA Awards have been instrumental in promoting the most innovative initiatives in the domain of ICTs for Development and to spread awareness about the role of ICTs in addressing social concerns. eINDIA 2010 Awards will be given under the following categories:- e-Governance

Award Objectives:
- To encourage institutions and individual leaders to use and apply ICT tools in various developmental and sector-specific projects
- To identify and popularise emerging leaders and innovative projects from the different sectors of the development community, including the grass-roots organisations
- To identify and felicitate a project that exemplifies the kind of implementation that can be easily replicated and at the same time proves efficient and sustainable, especially projects implemented in India and the South Asian region
- To promote the most innovative initiatives in the domain of ICTs for Development
- To spread awareness about the role of ICTs in addressing social concerns
- To emphasise the instrumental effectiveness of ICT based applications
Under the Municipal IT, Private sector initiative of the year in Municipal IT category, MRC implementation has bagged the award, under the #1 Citizen's choice. Total votes polled for this category - 2199 . The nomination was filed by the eGovernments Foundation who are the Software partners of Directorate of Municipal Administration. Project Title : Municipal Reforms through state wide deployment of common set of processes and standards through Municipal eGovernance Project.
